Laughter
Mixed Media Collage, 20" x 20"
“Laughter” captures the way joy ripples through memory and bounces up and down in my mind. This piece is assembled from parts of a family photograph of my grandparents. I used fragments and layered overlaps to mimic the shake and vibration of a laugh as it shimmies into the air. I wanted the piece to be a visual translation of sound, with motion, texture, and light to preserve the energy of exhilaration.

Crossing Over
Mixed Media Collage, 12" x 12"
"Crossing Over" is about memory, presence, and absence. In the foreground, a woman stands before a vintage car as if keeping vigil at the edge of two worlds. Behind her, the landscape opens to a body of water where others appear for a journey (my Grandmother and Great-Grandmother). This represents both the physical act of crossing a river and the inevitable crossing from one realm to another. Through the combination of photo fragments and painted overlays, I am trying to suggest that every crossing is layered with multiple meanings.

By the Lake
Mixed Media Collage, 12" x 12"
In "By The Lake," the figure sits in a sacred space anchored between the solidity of tree trunks, the psychological stillness of water, and the dreamlike distortion of once-familiar homes. I used warm tones and layered textures to reflect both the glow of recollection and the emotional weight of holding on. In this space, time folds in on itself like the architecture does, and the present moment braces against the pull of the past.

Letters Home
Mixed Media Collage, 12" x 12"
“Letters Home” is assembled from photographs that a family friend stationed in Europe during WWII sent along with his letters. The piece reflects the intimacy of the correspondence, showing that even in the machinery of war, words traveled farther than weapons. It’s a commentary on the need to stay connected to the ones we love, even in times of separation and upheaval.
