VOCAL, Inc. (Virginia’s Statewide Consumer-Run Mental Health Organization)
Director of Development, (part-time) 3/2009—presentInstituted the first Fundraising Campaign for the organization.Supervised overhaul of www.vocalvirginia.org, the organization’s website, and printed marketing materials.Instituted organizational structure for applying for grant opportunities and wrote successful grant applications for both government and private foundation grants.Adopted and integrated membership and donor software into the organizational structure.Led workshops on Organizational Development and Fundraising at Vocal’s Annual Conference and at independent seminars.Chosen to lead the Capacity-Building Institute at Alternatives 2010, the National Consumer-Run Mental Health Conference, in October 2010.Began to identify potential donors to VOCAL, Inc., raised number of donors from 0 to 265 in eighteen months (raising about $35k).Conducted VOCAL’s first-ever direct-mail campaign.
